Spring Cleaning Party – The Entryway

 springcleaning10

It is Day 10 of the Spring Cleaning Party at Simple Mom, and what a party it has been. Thank you so much to my readers for making this a fabulous experience. I am a very new blogger (for only 3 months infact) and a life-long organizer, and I can’t tell you how much it means to me that you find my organizing tips and tricks useful. I hope you will to continue to visit Organizing-Life regularly to learn more about organizing through the eyes of a lable-maker-loving, slightly OCD, color-coding, font-matching, perfection-seeking, organizer.

About my entryway…well, it is in deplorable shape. We moved into our two story town home about 18 months ago with a 2 and-a-little-more-year-old. A few months later we welcomed a little precious premie baby girl into our family. And since then, I have been struggling to just keep my stay-at-home-mom, non-existent energy-level up so I can keep up with the double diaper changing. Needless to say, it took all my spare time to rip out the overgrown bushes out front, and figure out how to carry two hook/shelves with a diaper bag, a purse, an infant and a toddler with just two arms. But we are landscaping slowly, and transforming the entryway into a functional space in increments. (My one secret is that there is a decorative trunk which holds and hides extra shoes, accessories, and other “going-outside” items. It is also perfect for kids to sit on so you can fasten their shoes! It is only a bit inconvenient to access because it faces the wall so kids will not be tempted to get their fingers stuck opening the lid. Oh, and the purple bin, is for bubbles, sidewalk chalk, sun hats, bug-spray, and sunscreen.) I am excited about the opportunity to share with you how we are continuing to redecorate and organize our home. And I hope to share with you some of my inspirations so you can be inspired too.

  • Olivia, wow, with a family of 7, that means 14 little and large shoes hanging out! That could be quite a mess. Thanks though for sharing your organizing solution. I am sure other readers will follow in your path!

  • Love the trunk for shoes and other items!

With a household of 7, shoes were littered everywhere until we got it under control with our own trunk for shoes! We also have a trunk beside it for extra blankets and a basket we keep on a nearby bookshelf full of winter hats, gloves and other accessories!

It’s all about storage when you are looking to keep an organized home! Love your Feng Shui Tips! I hope to incorporate some of those ideas into my own home!
