Plan Ahead – Weekly Planning

Part 2 of 3

Weekly OL Calendar

Yesterday I covered how to plan a season ahead with my monthly planner. You can find this post here: Plan Ahead – Monthly Planning

Today I want to introduce you to my FREE Weekly Planner Download and how to integrate your monthly planning preparation into your weekly task list.

I remember sitting down with my family every Sunday evening as a young person and discussing my allowance and our weekly family activities. I felt prepared to start my week and I felt my parents valued my endeavours and my successes because we had a designated time to discuss topics freely. Now, I plan each week with my husband who also has a busy schedule. I feel our commitment to weekly planning puts us on the same page and brings us together as a unified team.

Why Plan Weekly? You can…

  • Coordinate your household activities and car pool, plan meals, and know who will be where, doing what, and when.
  • Be more efficient, effective, and cohesive as a family.
  • Be prepared for the week’s events. (For example: if son Y needs Friday bake sale cupcakes, you know to put this item on your Wednesday grocery shopping list.)
  • Start Here:

Download and print my FREE Weekly Planner Download 12 times for the summer months ahead.

    How To:

    1. Use the weekly planner with the monthly planner.

    2. 3-hole punch the weekly calendars and place them into a binder or place it on a clip board.

    3. Write in the appropriate month, year, and week.

    4. Refer to your monthly calendar and note scheduled appointments and events in your weekly calendar when they occur.

    5. Jot down in your Weekly Reminders the tasks you need to accomplish to prepare for these appointments and events.

    6. Write the task on the day you plan to tackle it. (Break down your event preparation into manageable tasks and assign each a deadline so you will be prepared for the event well before it occurs.)

    7. Confer with other family members and other individuals whose weekly schedules impact yours and note joint-efforts that affect your time.

    8. Remember to designate a time for personal relaxation, menu planning, and household chores and cleaning.

    9. You can also jot down a shopping list of times you need to prepare for up coming events.

    10. Also note weekly budget items if you like. I write “pay bills” in the day I intend to accomplish this task.

    11. Observe the space limit. Keep it flexible and realistic–if you can’t write it all in that day, you probably can’t do it all that day.

    12. Only note items that you have control over and are your responsibility.

Now you have a weekly plan and you can easily see which tasks you need to tackle this week to prepare for up coming events. 15 minutes of weekly family planning can help your week run smoothly.

Next up, tomorrow, I will post some tips to help you plan daily and how to start your day organized and ready. Do you have any weekly planning tips for others? Leave a comment below!
