Organizing Kids – Organizer Thoughts

I heart the Get Organized blog

I just found this interesting post written by Carmen from Get Organized. Her top 3 Steps To Help Kids Get Organized are: 1. set the example, 2. straight talk and 3. stick to your guns.

I agree that adults need to set the example for children by cleaning-up and making an organized home a priority. I also agree that children can most easily understand direct communication and the no-beating-around the bush method works best. But the last point, “sticking to your guns,” is the hardest for me to follow, especially when it is 5pm and my baby is holding on to my leg wailing to be held,  my toddler is starving and has a dirty diaper, and I am trying to cook dinner. But I try to stick to my guns!

  • Abbie – Thanks for sharing my post! I’m laughing at your analogy about the octopus into a basket (the comment you left on my site). :) You are so right – organizing kids is very much a rinse and repeat process. But it (organization) is such an important life skill to pass on! I’m happy to hear that you are trying to do this with your little ones. :) They will thank you later!
