I know what you mean about meeting knitting newbies...there are so many knitters out there in blog-world who have been knitting since they were a child. I guess I learned how when I was 10 or so, but I certainly didn't KNIT until recently. These first two hats, you only need to learn the k2tog stitch to complete the hat! Knit two together, you can find some great tutorials with video here...http://www.knittinghelp.com/videos/decreases. This is how I learned...well this and reading from a book. good luck to you! Also, read a bit about gauge from here...http://www.soulemama.com/soulemama/2009/01/on-knitting.html...it will help you knit to fit.

I am totally new to knitting, as in... I can cast on, knit, purl, and bind off, lol. I want to learn to shape this winter so I can knit hats, mittens, and garments. It's nice to see other knitting newbies out there!! :)
